Coffee: Not the Enemy You Think

There has been a lot of hate on coffee lately, so we wanted to clear the air and make one thing clear: coffee isn’t your enemy.

Sure, if you’re drinking non-organic coffee beans, which are proven to have extremely high levels of pesticides, fungicides and mold, then you may want to give it up. BUT if you choose organic, mold-free beans? They aren’t bad for you. In fact, coffee is rich in antioxidants and has been shown to provide an overall net-positive affect on frequent drinkers.

Not only does coffee enhance your mental alertness by stimulating the central nervous system, the chlorogenic acids and trigonelline compounds in the coffee “bean” (it’s actually a seed or pit) can reduce inflammation and support metabolic health helping to lower the risk of diseases like Parkinson's and Type 2 diabetes.

The Anti-Coffee Dirty Marketing Ploy

The attack on coffee is a carefully deployed marketing trick to get you to villainize one thing in order to replace it with other - usually an over-priced coffee replacement with lab-grown questionable ingredients. The condemnation is simply not based on science.

Sure coffee can be a crutch and over-consumed leading to issues, but that’s not unlike anything else. Moderation and common sense is a requirement across the entire field of nutrition.

With that being said, however, we know that the caffeine in coffee can be acidic to the digestive system causing jitters or crashes, especially in those that are sensitive. This doesn’t mean you have to give it up — it just means that you need to pair it with something that mitigates these negative effects.

And that something is chaga mushroom tea. It tastes just like coffee, and has incredible benefits due to its mineralization and alkalinity that can transform your daily java brew into a long-term vitality potion.

Why Pair Coffee with Chaga?

1. Gentle, Balanced Energy
Many of our customers report steadier energy when they cut their coffee with brewed Chaga tea or add a Chaga extract shot. It’s the ritual we reach for when we want alertness without feeling wired.

2. Antioxidant Heavyweight
Chaga is famously rich in antioxidant compounds that help the body defend against everyday oxidative stress. In fact, it is confirmed that chaga is the highest antioxidant food on earth, according to the ORAC scale (a measurement of the amount of antioxidants in different foods).

3. Easier on Your System
If straight coffee upsets your stomach, try blending 50/50 with brewed Chaga tea. Chaga can help reduce the acidity of pure coffee, which reduces its potentially irritating effects on the gut lining.

4. Immune Support
You drink coffee daily anyway—why not fold an immune‑supporting powerhouse into the habit you already have? After all, consistency beats intention, and chaga is something you can easily incorporate into your routine.

5. Pineal Gland Activation
The pineal gland—a tiny crystalline gland deep in the brain—is responsible for melatonin production and circadian rhythm, but due to toxins from modern life, it is prone to calcification from fluoride, heavy metals, and oxidant imbalance.  Chaga’s antioxidant richness helps clear this biochemical haze and support pineal melatonin synthesis, which research suggests may facilitate deeper rest cycles and subtle shifts in sensory awareness

Flavor - It Already Speaks Coffee

Chaga’s natural profile is reminiscent of roasted nuts, with soft vanilla‑birch undertones—meaning it blends beautifully into coffee. Most people can’t tell they’ve mixed mushrooms in (until they feel the difference). Try:

  • Daily Blend: ⅔ coffee + ⅓ strong Chaga tea.

  • Focus Mode: Add 1 shot (or 1 oz) Black Magic Alchemy Wild Chaga Elixir to your morning brew.

  • Evening Ritual: Decaf or roasted chicory + Chaga tea for a nighttime “coffee” that won’t wire you.

Ready to Try It?

Our chaga is wild foraged in the pristine boreal forests of the Canadian Taiga. You can brew our Wild Chaga Tea to replace 1/2 of your coffee, or add a shot of our Wild Chaga Elixir to any of your favorite brews.
